The term "Cineback" refers to a new type of modular-style camera rig that transforms traditional mirrorless cameras into cinema cameras. This rigging style was initially developed by a filmmaker in Taiwan in 2021 and later replicated by Chinese brands in 2022. YouTuber Caleb Pike claims to have invented the design, but it is believed they only popularized the format and coined it as "Cineback" in 2023. Numerous brands have entered the market with names such as Film Cube, Film Box, CineBox, Battle Tested Rigs, Rabbit Cages, and the more widely recognized and refined brand, Rigid.PRO Cinema Camera Rigs.
There remains some contention on the issue which has been partially outlined here.
Cineback rigs attach to a cage cameras such as Sony, Fuji, Black Magic, Canon, Panasonic and more, and and helps to add some size and weight to the unit for easy balancing. With long lenses attached, small mirrorless cameras can feel quite front-heavy. With more weight behind the back of camera, not so much.
